Booking a Baptism at St.Anne'sWhat ia a Baptism?
Baptism
is about wanting God to be a part of your child’s life and
you to be part of God’s people we call the Church. It’s
a great thing to do. If
you choose to have your child Baptised / Christened (they
are the same thing) you are beginning a conversation with
God. You might know what that means or you might not. Or you
may be somewhere in-between. Confused? So are many who come
to Church. Faith is a journey not a destination. We journey
with God. We
hope that you will join with us at St Anne’s. We
are a Christian community exploring what that means in
worship, service and practical action. We seek to reshape
our lives so we echo Jesus Christ in our priorities. Can
we have our child baptised? We
baptise those who live in St Anne’s Parish (essentially a
circle with Brooklands Road, Norris Road, Northenden Road
and Dane Road marking the edges). If you do not live in the
Parish but have reasons for wanting your child to be
baptised here, please do ask. Picking
up an Application Form To
pick up a form, we invite you to come to our 10.30am Parish
Eucharist at St Anne’s. For some seeking baptism, coming
to Church is simply what you do already. For others, joining
Christians for worship is not a regular part of your life.
We hope and pray that you will come along as a regular part
of your preparing for Baptism and that you will continue to
come afterwards, to help you weave the Christian faith into
your parenting of your child. Either way, you are really
welcome. Come and take a look at us and ask yourself whether
you want to explore the Christian faith as part of our
community. After
the service we invite you to join us over in the Church Hall
for a drink. The clergy will be able to join you soon
afterwards with an application form. Returning
the Application Form We
ask you to bring the Application Form, filled in, to the
Office Hour. This takes place at St Anne’s on a Sunday
afternoon between 5.00pm - 5.30pm. Date
for Baptism Baptisms
take place on most Sundays except
for the Second Sunday of the Month. The service is held as
part of a our main Church Service at 10.30am or at 12.30pm.
In order to make it a more personal experience, we only
baptise from two families at any one time, with dates
decided on a first come, first served basis. Until your form
is returned to the Church Office and date agreed, please
note that no final conversation can take place about dates. Baptism
Preparation Before
Baptism, you will need to come to a Baptism Preparation
Session. These take place in St Anne’s Church,
where the baptism will take place. They will be at 4.30pm
various Sundays of the year. They will last about one
hour. If you bring children, please bring toys and
activities they can do whilst we talk. You
can arrange the date of the Baptism before coming to the
preparation but you must come to a session before the
Baptism can take place. Unfortunately, we cannot baptize
until the parents have come to a preparation session.
